I'm not a fan of Lee Jae-myung. I think his recent policy changes are simply flip flops and I cannot trust him on defense issues; it is not something like social issues where politicians can change their views later on due to personal experience or rethinking. No, this is something more fundamental, so I doubt he is sincere. In any case, I am supporting Ahn Cheol-soo in the election. He is much more centrist and moderate. Additionally, he has a sound foreign policy, and a wide range of experiences involving business and technology. He believes in the rule of law, which is why he was the only PPP member to be seated in the National Assembly chamber when he was impeached. Unlike most of the PPP and even some members of the Democratic Party, he is not bitterly homophobic. I hope he prevails in the primary campaign.
I am worried about Korea. Polarization has reached new heights; social issues like misogyny, beauty standards, work stress, and other issues have created a low-trust society while economic inequality and a rising wealth gap have lowered social mobility.
